The Kittitas County Fire Marshall has lifted the county-wide burn ban effective Wednesday, September 30th at noon.

KVFR is no longer requiring burn permits for recreational burning or yard waste burns.

Please take a look at the regulations below for your specific location. If you light a fire, it is your responsibility to do so legally and safely, to ensure the fire does not become out of control.

𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠/𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚:

• Recreational fires ONLY limited to 3’ x 3’ x 2’ and must be more than 25 feet away from a structure. Firewood or charcoal briquettes only – no construction debris or yard waste (leaves, grass, brush)

• Agriculture burns – some ditchlines inside the city serve agricultural purposes and may be burned.

• Ceremonial fires – flags etc…

𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠/𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚:

• Organic material (leaves, grass, brush, yard trimmings, orchard pruning, tumbleweeds).

• Organic material along fence lines and irrigation ditches.

• Field burns less than 1 acre individually or cumulatively.

𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥/𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠:

• Burn barrels

• Non-organic materials – including construction debris, rubber, metal, asphalt, plastics, and garbage.

• No debris or yard waste burning inside the City and urban growth areas.

• Always follow burn ban regulations.

𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬/𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲:

• Have enough water/equipment on site to extinguish any fire.

• Monitor the fire from ignition to extinguishment. Never leave the fire unattended.

• Monitor the wind, and consider not burning if it is greater than 15mph.

• Consider talking to your neighbor before you burn.
